Achilles tendonitis
Inflammation of the tendon at the back of the leg creating pain when walking and standing.
Commonly associated with:
- Over pronation
- Over supination

Ankle sprains
Stretching/Tearing of ankle ligaments/tendons due to the foot being forced into excessive supination.
Commonly associated with:
- Over supination

Blisters
Created by excessive friction pressure upon which the body produces a protective mechanism which includes a fluid filled bubble. Usually the fluid within the bubble is clear however on occasions can become infected.
Commonly associated with:
- Incorrectly fitting footwear
- Sweaty feet

Metatarsalgia
A generalised term for pain across the ball of the foot exacerbated when walking or standing.
Commonly associated with:
- Reduction in the fatty pad overlying the ball of the foot
- Over pronation
- Over supination
- Hallux valgus (Bunions)
- Reduced transverse arch
- Clawing of the toes
- Pes Cavus

Callus formation
A thickened layer of skin which can create pain over the area affected and is usually the result of excessive pressure acting through this area. Most common over the ball of the foot.
Commonly associated with:
- A high arched
foot (pes cavus) - Over pronation
- Over supination
- Clawing of the toes
- Reduction of the fatty pad over the ball of the foot

Hallux limitus/rigidus
Common form of wear and tear within the joint located at the base of the big toe (1st metatarsophalangeal joint). This creates an inflexible big toe joint which can create pain when walking.
Commonly associated with:
- Ageing
- Previous minor foot trauma which was undiagnosed
- Gout

Low back pain
Pain in the lower region of the back (Lumbo-sacral).
Commonly associated with:
- Over pronation
- Over supination
- Pes Cavus

Knee pain
Common knee pain is patella-femoral pain which is discomfort experienced between the patella (knee cap) and the femur (thigh bone).

- Over pronation
- Over supination

Heel Pain
Common types of heel pain are:
Generalised heel pain – usually dull ache over the heel area on the sole of the foot
Plantar fasciitis – Inflammation of the area where the thick band of tissue that forms the arch of the foot joins the heel.
Commonly associated with:
- High BMI (Body mass index)
- Over pronation
- Pes cavus
